Announcing Club Leadership Changes

It was announced to all HPFC families on July 2 that HPFC was shifting the direction of Club Leadership in the Director of Coaching and Technical Director Roles.  Below is the email sent out to all families from Club President, Sue Bialous.

It is with great pleasure that I am sharing news of positive growth and change within our Club and our valued Coaching staff members.

Jake Gordon has valiantly served as Director of Coaching (DOC) for the last 3 years, after having coached and played for HPFC for many years before that. At this time, Jake has chosen to move on from the DOC role, but will continue to coach our G03 team. We feel very lucky to get to keep his talents and leadership on our staff, as he is such an important member of our team and family. We are very proud of the work Jake has done for the Club, and are excited for him as he explores other pursuits. Thank you, Jake!

Dee Abasute will be promoted from Technical Director to Interim Director of Coaching, while the Board commences the search for a permanent DOC. Over the past several years, Coach Dee has become an integral part of the Coaching Leadership team, with a measured yet progressive approach to soccer curriculum training, coach accountability, and overall programming for our Club. Her experience runs deep, as a collegiate player at the University of Pittsburgh (NCAA Div. 1) after a rich youth soccer career, and then as a youth soccer coach since 2012 in Pennsylvania, and the Seattle area since 2015. She carries a USSF “D” license, USC DoC Diploma, and USC Development Diplomas (4v4, 7v7, 9v9). We are incredibly fortunate to have her step in at this crucial moment in our Club’s story.

It is worth noting that these changes are the result of months of careful reflection and planning by all those involved. The Board is committed to maintaining the momentum of growth and positive change that we were on prior to the pandemic, and this transition enables much-needed stability and steady work to achieve our goals. We appreciate your continued support, and understand that changes take some time to adjust to. We hope that you will share our enthusiasm for things to come, especially after this pandemic is over.

We look forward to successful transition and with each individual luck in their new positions.
