PSPL Season Delayed Until Nov 7

PSPL announced on October 15 that due to recent rise in virus levels in King and Pierce Counties, most of the PSPL will be delayed in its start to the 2020 Fall campaign until at least the weekend of November 7.
Games previously scheduled for the weekend of October 17 & 18 will be played as scheduled.  Teams competing that weekend are primarily the Dev Age level.

For more information, please see the announcement from PSPL below:

As many of you know by now, King and Pierce counties are heading into the Red Zone for the next two weeks, beginning Monday. That means no league soccer matches, contact training or scrimmages/friendlies can occur beginning Monday, Oct. 19 and extending through Oct. 31. We plan to resume games for the Nov. 7 weekend.

Plans are going forward for kicking off the Puget Sound Dev League at Starfire on the Oct. 17 weekend. King and Pierce county teams are considered still in the Green Zone until Monday, and therefore, are eligible to play at Starfire. All current Green Zone teams are eligible to play at Starfire on Oct. 17 & 18.

The new Red Zone classification for King & Pierce counties means the 11U & older divisions will begin their fall seasons on the Nov. 7 weekend - if counties return to Green Zone. If not, other Green Zone teams will begin their season Oct. 17, or may be pushed back accordingly.

The plan is to schedule games over Thanksgiving weekend and likely through the Dec. 12-13 weekend. We can even go deeper into December, and teams conceivably, could schedule weekday games through the holidays. It is our preference to finish the fall seasons - if all goes well - by Dec. 13, which is a Sunday.

But our message to everyone: we still have plenty of flexibility to complete an eight-game fall season. One fall-back position: complete a six-game season by mid-December, or later.

There is still plenty of opportunity to complete a fall season as we look beyond this two-week pause, so we should keep positive and hopeful. At the same time, we understand COVID safety concerns could scuttle a season for everyone. But like you all, we can only plan for two-weeks out until health officials say otherwise.

For all club officials and coaches, managers, we have updated our COVID safety protocols and return to play plans based on the Gov's office Updated Guidelines. All club officials need to review their roles and responsibilities in the resumption of league play.

The Governor's Updated Guidelines are NOT negotiable. We urge every club official and staff member to read and review the safety protocols,. Supporters, officials, players, coaches and managers of any PSPL club will be expected to adhere to league COVID Safety Protocols and Starfire's Safety Protocols if playing league match at Starfire.

If clubs - or their supporters - are found to be violating the league's COVID Safety Protocols, the league and the official referee have the right to end the match and send both teams home. The violating team will receive automatic 1-0 forfeit. A second violation would include a mandatory $1,000 fine to be paid to the league by the club in violation within five days of the incident.

So far, the news above applies primarily to Westside teams.

But first up - if only for one initial week - is the Puget Sound Dev League. The season kicks off on Oct. 17/18 @ Stafire. We'll take a small victory for kids health!

Good luck & stay safe everyone!
