HPFC Coaching Leadership

Shaun Spencer, Coach Development Lead

Shaun's love for soccer began at a young age, playing for several teams in the North West of England. He played university soccer and semi-professional teams before joining Morecambe F.C, which is now a side in EFL League 2. While at university, he transitioned to coaching and began to move up the ranks. During his studies at The University of Central Lancashire, he worked towards getting his F.A. soccer coaching badges. He gained experience by shadowing coaches at Manchester United and getting on-field experience at Blackburn Rovers. Over the next five years, he continued his studies and earned several qualifications, including the UEFA A License, B.A. (Hons.) in Sports Coaching, and Strength and Conditioning certifications. However, his true education came from the experience he gained working at various professional soccer clubs worldwide, including those in the United States, South Korea, India, Indonesia, and Egypt. Initially, Shaun worked with youth soccer teams such as Manchester United and Manchester City, but later moved on to coaching men's professional teams, including International, Premier League, MLS, and Championship players. He continued studying the game and coaching mechanics in great detail, even spending several weeks with Pep Guardiola during his time at Bayern Munich. In 2019, Shaun finished the season at Morecambe FC as first-team technical consultant before making a permanent move to the United States. He has been living in West Seattle for the past two years and aims to use his skill set to help his community.
