11v11 Phase (13U–19U)
The 11v11 phase is where players experience the full game. The field is bigger, the demands are higher, and decisions carry more consequence. Players are asked to apply their technical foundation within increasingly complex tactical and competitive environments.
At this stage, development includes understanding roles, responsibilities, and how individual actions impact the team across all phases of play.
What We Focus On
On the Field
- Applying technical skills under increased pressure and speed
- Understanding team shape, roles, and responsibilities
- Reading the game across all phases of play
- Executing decisions consistently in competitive environments
Players are expected to train with intent, take ownership of performance, and learn through match-based experiences.
Off the Field
- Accountability to teammates and team standards
- Managing time, preparation, and recovery
- Balancing soccer with academics, family, and other commitments
- Communicating clearly with coaches about availability & expectations
Maturity, consistency, and responsibility matter more as players move through this phase.
Team Formation at 11v11
Multiple teams are formed within each age group. Players are evaluated and placed based on current readiness, performance, and developmental needs.
Placement reflects where a player is at that point in time, not a fixed label. Movement between teams over time is normal and expected.
As players mature, positional responsibilities become more defined, while continued versatility and learning remain important.
Competition at 11v11
11v11 competition provides a setting where players test themselves in higher-level environments. The focus is on applying training concepts in matches while managing increased physical, tactical, and mental demands.
Results matter more as players get older, but they are always viewed within a developmental context. Coaches prioritize learning, performance consistency, and long-term growth.
Season Rhythm
What the Season Looks Like
- Year-round training and competition for most teams
- Fall and spring league play anchor the calendar
- Summer includes training and selected tournaments
- Planned breaks are built into the year
As players move into high school, the season rhythm adjusts to reflect increased academic demands and school-based soccer schedules.
Academics, High School, and Balance
- Academic responsibilities are prioritized and respected
- High school players pause club competition during the school season
- Players train and compete with their high school–aged group
- Volunteer opportunities are available to support school service-hour requirements
Clear communication helps players balance soccer, school, and meaningful involvement within the club community.
Success in the 11v11 Phase
Success at this stage shows up in how players manage the full demands of the game and their lives around it.
Success in the 11v11 phase is measured by:
- Consistent decision-making under pressure
- Understanding and executing team roles
- Growth in confidence, leadership, and accountability
- Ability to balance soccer, school, and personal commitments
The goal is to prepare players for long-term participation in the game, whether that means high school soccer, continued competitive play, or a healthy lifelong relationship with the sport.
Leagues and Competition
High school–aged players participate in a mix of competitive league play and high school soccer, with ongoing development continuing alongside these environments. League selection and competition formats vary by age, team, and season, while maintaining an emphasis on long-term development and sustained involvement in the game.
